Lions Rest is both a guest farm and Warmblood Horse Stud.
For guests, we are based in Ficksburg in the Eastern Free State, ideally positioned for people wishing to visit this stunning part of our country or Lesotho. A spacious and beautifully furnished self catering guest apartment attached to the main house, with large patio and braai area, is the ideal couple’s getaway. We have large and well kept gardens to laze the days away in peace and quiet. The guest house opens out onto a 400 acre private estate with an abundance of wildlife. A short walk will take you down to the Caledon River with excellent views over to Lesotho.
We also breed world class Show Jumping and Dressage warmblood horses for the competitive riders, right here on the farm. Our horses are bred mainly using imported frozen semen from the best Dutch stallions the world has to offer, ensuring our progeny are amongst the best this country has to offer.
